There are more than 4,500 recognised genetic conditions and there are many more that doctors have yet to name.
Individually, genetic disorders are rare but together they affect 1 in 25 babies born in the UK.
Jeans for Genes aims to support services that make
children's day to day lives easier and more enjoyable. In the long
term, we hope our investment in research will increase understanding about the
causes of these conditions, help to establish standards of care and
eventually find ways of curing disorders which can seriously affect children's lives.
