The Great North Run is the most famous half marathon in Britain. The route takes you from Newcastle to Gateshead in the north east of England.
This year is the event's 30th anniversary and if you're lucky enough to have your own place, you'll be one of 54,000 people taking part.

Silverstone Half Marathon

This race takes place at the historic Silverstone motor racing circuit. It's an excellent event if you're attempting your first half marathon.
Home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone provides a flat
course that's perfect for two legs as well as four wheels.
It's also great training if you're planning to run the London Marathon.
