Volunteer with Jeans for Genes

As well as donating money to Jeans for Genes you can donate your time, too.  Volunteers are vital to charities like us as they help us to keep costs down and they’re extra pairs of hands, and you can never have too many of those!

Each year, volunteers talk to thousands of school children in the run up to Jeans for Genes Day.

Not only do their visits help to educate the children (and staff!) about genetic disorders, they can also double the amount of money the school raises.

As a school speaker you’ll be given some informal training to boost your confidence, your presentation skills and to make sure you know enough about Jeans for Genes to answer the children’s questions.

You’ll also be given an entertaining PowerPoint presentation and be shown how to use it if technology frightens you!

We’d especially like to hear from you if you have a genetic disorder in your family as children find personal stories fascinating.

If you’d like to find out more, email our School Speakers Coordinator, Elana Levinson, or call her on 020 7199 3300.

"I very much enjoyed being a school speaker.  The school I visited was really helpful and the presentation was very easy to use.  The whole thing was really well organised and it was a pleasure to help the campaign." Feedback from our school speakers in 2007
