Meet our volunteers

We rely on the help of volunteers in the run up to Jeans for Genes Day.

Our volunteers in 2009 helped us with a telemarketing project, talking to supporters about their Jeans for Genes Day experience.

This work is very important as it helps us to understand what you like best about the Day and the materials we send you.  Giving you more of what you want and less of what you don't want helps us to keep costs to a minimum.

The project also had great benefits for the volunteers.

“I’ve gained a good insight into the role of telemarketing and the value it can bring to increasing awareness for charities, an understanding that I will carry with me in future work," says Clare Doughty.

Ina Linge-Granger and Evelyn Owusu both gained confidence working with us.  "The skills I learned – from data input to customer service – will definitely be useful in the future," said Ina.

Evelyn said "I've got more confidence now when dealing with people on a one to one basis."

Eleanor Dandy found her time with us so inspiring that she now has a clear career path.

"Jeans for Genes is a very welcoming and warm charity and has taught me the importance of gaining maximum revenue with minimum resources.  I now want to take this experience on to a permanent role in the charity sector.”

Asha Joneja designed our 2009 t-shirt as a student at London College of Fashion.

"My time with Jeans for Genes taught me valuable team-working skills.  I gained an understanding of the massive work that Jeans for Genes do and am so proud to have been part of this with and to have my winning design chosen to help the lives of so many others."
