Residential family weekend, the Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl Society

The most common symptom in children with Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome is visual impairment, which can ultimately lead to blindness.

Obesity is also common and many children will experience problems with their kidneys.  Some can also have extra fingers and/or toes and learning difficulties.

LMBBS is a rare condition with only 1 in 100,000 cases being seen each year.  So the chances of meeting another family in the same situation are relatively small.

This is why Jeans for Genes is giving a grant to the LMBBS Society to hold a residential weekend and day conference.  As well as being the one time in the year that they're not alone or set apart because their children are 'different', it's a chance for families to get the latest information from experts and health professionals.
