Training in the MOVE mobility programme, MOVE
MOVE is a national charity working with severely disabled children to increase their mobility and independence. For some children this could mean learning to hold their head up for the first time. For others it could be playing football with their friends.
By setting goals the children really want to achieve, MOVE's programme gets them moving around in different ways, keeping health problems to a minimum and progress to a maximum.
““Taking part in the MOVE programme has meant a great deal, especially to us and Oliver as well as the rest of our family, friends and teachers. I never thought I would see such a great improvement. He has certainly done himself and us proud.” Oliver's mum, Julie
By awarding a grant to MOVE's practitioner training programme, Jeans for Genes will be using your donations very effectively.
One training course can train everyone involved with a child's care, including teachers, therapists and their parents. By learning the six steps of the MOVE programme they can then all work with the child towards the same goals.
Everyone who takes the course have the opportunity to become a MOVE trainer, so they can train their colleagues. This ensures that MOVE is available to all of the children they deal with, both now and in the future.
