Get involved!

Jeans for Genes Day 2010 takes place on Friday 1st October.  It's the annual event which gives you the chance to be stylish and comfortable in your jeans and raise money for children with genetic disorders.

It's also our 15th birthday so you don't want to miss the party!  How about baking and selling slices of birthday cake?  Visit our Jeans for Genes Day website for lots more fundraising ideas to make your Day special.

2009 saw a considerably drop in our income.  It affected the amount we were able to offer to charities which support affected children and families.  So we really need your help to reach this year's target of £2.5 million.

You can help children like Ieuan Ieuan and Christa
Changing lives

Your fundraising is already making a huge impact on Ieuan's life.  At 18 years old he's losing his ability to learn, walk and communicate because of the genetic condition, Rett syndrome

But Christa, a MOVE practitioner, is helping him to maintain his skills for as long as possible.

Just £2,200 trained 25 practitioners like Christa in the MOVE Programme.  It's a combination of family knowledge, education and therapy that helps children to achieve their goals.

"MOVE showed me just how much you can achieve with a child," says Christa.  "I can incorporate the programme throughout the day so the children spend less time out of class doing physiotherapy."

You can help children like Ellie Ellie with her mum, Tracey

Ellie is five and has CHAT Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome.  She has periods when she stops breathing.  She sometimes needs a ventilator which is why she has a tracheotomy in her throat.

Her parents were told she was unlikely to survive.

Rare conditions like these can be very isolating for families.  By taking part in this year's Jeans for Genes Day you can help us to fund a website, social networking for busy parents and a weekend for them to meet.
