Kelly shows the difference is in the jeans
Kelly Osbourne launches Jeans for Genes’ 2008 campaign to GENErate funds for children with genetic disorders
Kelly Osbourne has launched Jeans for Genes Day 2008 and shown her support for children with genetic disorders by modelling a funky XY chromosome t-shirt designed by a rising star from the London College of Fashion.
Known for her fabulous, cutting edge style, Kelly is sporting the t-shirt featuring X and Y chromosomes, to encourage people across the country to wear their jeans to work or school on Friday 3rd October, in exchange for a small donation.
The t-shirt has been created by the up and coming designer Iain Walker, a student at the London College of Fashion. His creation was hand-picked by fashion and lifestyle guru Nick Ede and the designer Wayne Hemingway.
The design, available in black, white or as a cotton shopping bag, was inspired by the iconic pop-art of the 60s.
Kelly says: “Genes make us who we are and affect the little things such as the colour of our eyes, hair and even whether we can roll our tongues. But the tiny differences in our genes can have a massive impact. They can cause a genetic disorder that seriously affects a child’s life and that of their parents.”
“By supporting the campaign I hope I’ll encourage everyone to get involved by buying a t-shirt, or donating a couple of pounds and pulling on their denim for Jeans for Genes Day on 3rd October. The money raised changes the world for those children born with genetic disorders. The difference you can make for them is really in your jeans.”
The bags and t-shirts are available from www.jeansforgenes.com and are priced at £2.50 for the bag, £6 for the white t-shirt and £7 for the black t-shirt.
